The fourth installment of the Once Upon a Time in China series takes place in 1895, during a time of political turmoil in China. Wong Fei Hung, played by Jet Li, is a respected martial artist and physician who is called upon to deal with both foreign threats and internal conflicts.
The movie begins as Wong Fei Hung travels to Guangzhou to attend a medical convention, where he meets a group of foreign missionaries who are working to spread Christianity in China.
