On the Other Foot follows the story of Billy Pitcher, a racist and highly opinionated man who struggles to come to terms with his daughter's interracial relationship. Despite his objections, his daughter continues to see her African-American boyfriend and invites Billy to attend an African church in an attempt to better understand her partner's culture.
Although hesitant at first, Billy reluctantly agrees to attend the church service, albeit with a hostile attitude. However, during the service, something inexplicable happens to Billy, and he wakes up the next day in a black man's body. Shocked and confused, Billy (now in the body of a man named Chuka) must navigate through life in a different skin, all the while trying to comprehend the root of his hatred towards people of color.
As the story progresses, Billy begins to experience racism firsthand, and his perspective on life begins to shift. He soon learns that prejudice is not only limited to the color of one's skin, but also to their cultural background, social status, and more.
