Offspring is a 2009 horror film based on the novel of the same name by Jack Ketchum. The story focuses on a feral tribe of cannibalistic humans who live in the woods outside of a small town in Maine. The tribe is known to the locals as the "Savages" and are thought to have been wiped out by law enforcement a decade prior to the events of the film.
The movie opens with the Savages attacking and killing a group of fishermen in the woods. They then move on to attack a family living in a remote cabin and kill them as well. The only survivor is a young girl named Amy, who manages to escape into the woods.
Meanwhile, a group of friends, led by a woman named Claire, come to town to spend a weekend at a beach house. They soon come into contact with the Savages and are attacked. The group is forced to fight for their lives against the feral tribe, who have a taste for human flesh.
As the group struggles to survive, they discover that the Savages are not as primitive as they once thought. They have developed a calculated plan to kidnap and breed with the remaining humans in the town, in order to keep their population alive.
Offspring is a brutal and gory horror film that explores the darker side of human nature and the lengths people will go to survive. It is not for the faint of heart.
