In the movie Octopussy, James Bond is sent to investigate the death of 009, a fellow “00” agent who was killed while trying to acquire a Fabergé egg in East Berlin. Bond takes possession of the egg after killing the KGB agent who was responsible for 009’s death.

Bond follows the trail of the Fabergé egg to India, where he discovers a smuggling ring led by Kamal Khan, a wealthy Afghan prince, and his American partner, Octopussy. Bond teams up with Octopussy, who is actually an independent smuggler, to uncover a plot to detonate a nuclear bomb at a US Air Force base in West Germany.

As Bond and Octopussy investigate, they discover that the smuggling ring is actually a cover for a Russian General, Orlov, who is trying to provoke a new World War. Orlov plans to detonate the nuclear bomb at the US Air Force base, blaming it on NATO and causing a Russian invasion of Europe.

Bond and Octopussy team up to stop Orlov and his men from carrying out their diabolical plan. They manage to disarm the bomb and turn Orlov over to the authorities, thus thwarting his plan to start a new World War. In the end, Octopussy decides to retire from smuggling and lead a peaceful life, while Bond continues his work as a “00” agent.
