Randall is a former small-time criminal who is now confined to a wheelchair after a botched robbery. He lives in a poverty-stricken part of Cape Town, South Africa, and struggles to make ends meet. His girlfriend, Pam, works as a nurse at a local hospital and supports him financially.
One day, while spying on his neighbors with binoculars, Randall witnesses a murder committed by a powerful local gangster named Emmie. Randall is desperate for money, and he realizes that he could use his knowledge of the murder to blackmail Emmie for a large sum of cash.
Randall convinces his friend and former accomplice, Warren, to help him with the blackmail scheme. They send Emmie a series of anonymous letters demanding money in exchange for their silence about the murder. Emmie eventually agrees to pay, but he sends his enforcer, Randal, to collect the money.
