Kabir is a former army man who decides to leave his past behind and takes up a teaching job in a remote school in Kashmir. The school is in a deplorable condition with no proper facilities for the children. The students, who come from poor and troubled backgrounds, find it challenging to cope with their studies.
As Kabir tries to bring some order and discipline to the school, he stumbles upon a notebook left by the previous year's teacher Firdaus. In the book, Firdaus has penned down her thoughts and experiences about teaching in the school, highlighting the struggles she faced and the bond she formed with the students.
