Crime,Comedy,Mystery  United States of America

Not for Publication is a 1984 romantic comedy film directed by Paul Bartel and starring Nancy Allen, David Naughton, and Dave Adams. The story follows Lois Thornedyke (Allen), a sassy and ambitious young journalist working at a New York City tabloid. Despite being the daughter of a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, Lois is consigned to writing the paper's scandal column, a job she finds demeaning and unsatisfying.

One day, Lois is sent on assignment to cover an auction of expensive jewelry, where she meets Harry (Naughton), a charming and sweet-natured young man who works as a courier for a diamond company. Harry is instantly smitten with Lois, but she is cold and dismissive towards him. However, when Harry saves Lois from being mugged, she begins to see him in a different light.

As Lois and Harry's relationship develops, she is given a chance to write a more serious and prestigious piece for the paper. However, her editor (played by Adams) threatens to fire her if she doesn't keep churning out juicy scandals. Lois must decide between her ambitions and her conscience, while also navigating the ups and downs of her budding romance with Harry.

Not for Publication is a charming and light-hearted comedy, with Allen and Naughton delivering appealing performances as the film's central couple. The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Adams as the slimy editor, and Lauren Hutton as a fellow journalist who becomes Lois's friend and ally. A fun and entertaining romp through the world of tabloid journalism and the highs and lows of falling in love, Not for Publication will leave audiences smiling and satisfied.
