The film North to Alaska was released in 1960 and starred John Wayne as Sam McCord, Stewart Granger as George Pratt, and Capucine as Angel. It was directed by Henry Hathaway.

The story begins with two friends, Sam and George, striking gold in Alaska. While George stays behind to manage their claim, Sam heads down to Seattle to bring George's fiancé back to Alaska. However, once Sam arrives in Seattle, he finds out that George's fiancé is already married and cannot come to Alaska. Instead, he meets a beautiful French girl named Angel, who is struggling to make ends meet as a dancer. Sam decides to bring Angel back to Alaska in place of George's fiancé.

Upon returning to Alaska, Sam discovers that things have changed. George has become engaged to someone else and is no longer interested in Angel. Sam decides to try and set George and Angel up, but he quickly realizes that he has feelings for Angel himself. He begins to romance her, much to the chagrin of George's younger brother Billy, who is also interested in Angel.

The film is a romantic comedy with a lot of action and adventure, set against the stunning Alaskan wilderness. It features a memorable soundtrack, including the catchy theme song "North to Alaska." The film was a commercial success and remains a beloved classic to this day.
