No Way to Treat a Lady is a dark comedy thriller that was released in 1968. The movie follows the story of Christopher Gill, a psychotic killer who preys on women in New York City. Gill, who is played by Rod Steiger, has a troubled relationship with his mother and seeks revenge for the abuse he suffered as a child.
Moe Brummel, a police detective who is struggling to gain recognition in his department, is assigned to the case. As he investigates the murders, he begins to receive taunting phone calls from Gill, who he eventually realizes is the killer. Along the way, Brummel becomes romantically involved with Kate Palmer, a tour guide who witnessed Gill leaving her neighbor's apartment.
As the body count rises, Brummel must confront his own demons and find a way to bring Gill to justice before it's too late. The movie is known for its quirky humor and dark themes, as well as the excellent performances of its cast. In addition to Steiger, the film stars George Segal as Brummel, Eileen Heckart as Brummel's mother, and Lee Remick as Palmer.
