Llewelyn Moss, a Vietnam veteran, is hunting antelope in the Texas desert when he stumbles upon the aftermath of a drug deal gone wrong. Among the dead bodies, he finds a satchel filled with $2 million in cash and a tracker device. Knowing people will be coming after the money, Moss takes the cash and runs away.
Anton Chigurh, a sociopath hitman hired by a mysterious organization, is tasked with retrieving the money and eliminating anyone who stands in his way. Chigurh is a methodical killer who uses a bolt gun as his weapon of choice. He tracks down Moss using the tracker device, and a cat-and-mouse game ensues.
Meanwhile, local Sheriff Ed Tom Bell, who is approaching retirement, is investigating the drug deal gone wrong and the ensuing violence. He quickly realizes the situation is beyond his control.
As Moss tries to evade Chigurh and keep the money, he becomes increasingly paranoid and desperate. Chigurh, on the other hand, seems invincible and unstoppable. The two men engage in a deadly game of wits and violence, with Bell trying to keep up and protect the innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire.
No Country for Old Men is a bleak and disturbing portrait of violence and greed in modern America. It features powerful performances by Josh Brolin as Moss, Javier Bardem as Chigurh, and Tommy Lee Jones as Bell. The movie won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director (Joel and Ethan Coen), Best Supporting Actor (Bardem), and Best Adapted Screenplay (Coen brothers).
