Nilachaley Kiriti is a Bengali detective thriller released in 2018. The film is directed by Anindya Bikash Datta and produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films. The movie is based on the popular Bengali detective character Kiriti Roy, created by Nihar Ranjan Gupta.
The movie starts with Kiriti and his newlywed wife Krishna arriving in Puri for their honeymoon. There, they meet Kali Sarkar, who is a gold merchant and a master in mathematics and chess. Kali is also Kiriti's longtime neighbor. But suddenly, Kali goes missing, and Kiriti starts investigating the case.
As the investigation proceeds, Kiriti finds out many hidden facts about Kali's life, his business, and his family. He also comes across several unwanted incidents that lead him to believe that Kali's disappearance might be linked to his business dealings.
Kiriti's investigation takes him to various places and introduces him to different characters, each having their motive and alibi. There is Kali's wife, who is not satisfied with her married life and wants more from her husband. Then there is Kali's business partner, who has a history of conflict with Kali. Kiriti also meets Kali's mistress, who is a part of his business dealing and holds a vital piece of information.
With every new piece of information, Kiriti gets closer to solving the case and finding Kali. In the end, Kiriti uncovers the truth behind Kali's disappearance and the reason behind the unwanted incidents that took place during his investigation.
The film stars Indraneil Sengupta as Kiriti Roy, Priyanka Sarkar as Krishna, and Abhishek Chatterjee as Kali Sarkar. The movie received mixed reviews from the audience and critics but was praised for its direction, screenplay, and performances. Overall, the film made a moderate box office collection.
