Adrienne Willis (played by Diane Lane) is a middle-aged woman living in North Carolina. She is struggling with her failing marriage and trying to decide whether to give up on it entirely, despite the fact that her husband has repeatedly cheated on her.
One weekend, Adrienne decides to take a break from her troubles by looking after an inn in the coastal town of Rodanthe. While she is there, she meets Paul Flanner (played by Richard Gere), a surgeon who is travelling to the area to reconcile with his estranged son.
Paul is consumed by guilt over a medical mistake that cost a patient her life and caused his son to cut off communication with him. As he and Adrienne get to know each other, they begin to open up about their regrets, their past mistakes, and their hopes for the future.
As the two of them grow closer, they also begin to fall in love. However, their time together is short-lived, and they must soon confront the realities of their own lives and choices.
Nights in Rodanthe is a romantic drama based on the book by Nicholas Sparks. It explores themes of regret, forgiveness, and second chances, and features stunning scenery and powerful performances by its cast.
