Night of Death! (aka La morte vivante) is a 1982 French horror film directed by Jean Rollin. The film follows nurse Martine as she begins her new job at a convalescent home in the French countryside. The home is run by the strange and mysterious Hélène (Françoise Blanchard) and her brother Antoine (Jean-Pierre Bouyxou).
Martine soon discovers that several of her co-workers have gone missing and she begins to suspect that something sinister is happening at the home. As she investigates, she uncovers a terrible secret - Hélène and Antoine have been experimenting on the elderly residents, injecting them with a serum that brings them back to life but also turns them into bloodthirsty monsters.
As the night falls, Martine finds herself trapped in the home with the undead residents and must fight to survive. With the help of a young man named Georges (Thierry De Carbonnières), who has his own reasons for being at the home, Martine uncovers the full extent of the horror that has taken over the convalescent home.
Night of Death! is known for its graphic violence and gore, as well as its exploration of themes such as the ethics of medical experimentation and the fear of death. The film received mixed reviews upon its release, but has since gained a cult following among fans of horror cinema.
