Truman Gates (played by Patrick Swayze) is a Chicago cop who receives tragic news that his younger brother, Joey, has been killed in an apparent drug deal gone wrong. Refusing to believe that his brother was involved in anything illegal, Truman sets out to find the truth behind Joey's death.
As Truman investigates the case, he discovers that Joey had been working with the Hillard family, a powerful crime syndicate in Kentucky. Briar Gates (played by Liam Neeson), Truman's older brother and a hillbilly from the backwoods of Kentucky, decides to take matters into his own hands and heads to Chicago to avenge Joey's death.
As Truman and Briar search for the killer, they uncover a web of corruption and deceit that reaches all the way to the top of the Hillard family. Along the way, they encounter several dangerous and violent individuals, including a ruthless hitman named John Isabella (played by Adam Baldwin).
As the tension between the two families reaches a boiling point, Truman and Briar must use all their skills and resources to take down the Hillard family and bring their brother's killer to justice. However, as they get closer to the truth, they realize that their own lives may be in danger. Will they be able to bring the killer to justice before it's too late? Find out in Next of Kin.
