New Police Story is a 2004 Hong Kong action film directed by Benny Chan and starring Jackie Chan. The film is a reboot of the Police Story series and features a darker tone compared to the previous movies.
The film follows Inspector Wing who is a respected police officer in Hong Kong until his entire team is killed during a botched operation against a gang of thrill-seeking punks. Wracked with guilt and consumed by alcoholism, Wing becomes a disgrace to the police force.
In an attempt to redeem himself, Wing takes on a new rookie partner named Frank (Nicholas Tse), who also has a troubled past of his own. Together, they must track down the gang responsible for the death of Wing's team and its ruthless leader, Joe (Daniel Wu).
As the investigation progresses, Wing and Frank discover that Joe and his gang are not your typical criminals but are highly skilled in martial arts and have a psychological edge that makes them unstoppable. The two officers are pushed to their limits both mentally and physically as they try to bring the gang to justice.
New Police Story is a gritty and intense action film that showcases the talents of Jackie Chan and the rest of the cast.
