Never Back Down is a 2008 action sports drama film directed by Jeff Wadlow and written by Chris Hauty. The film stars Sean Faris, Amber Heard, Cam Gigandet, and Djimon Hounsou.
Jake Tyler is a rebellious teenager who moves to Orlando, Florida with his family, after his father's death. He finds it difficult to adjust to his new school and environment, and gets into frequent fights with his classmates. One day, he gets into a fight with Ryan McCarthy, the school's undefeated martial arts champion, and gets beaten badly.
After the fight, Jake is humiliated and seeks revenge, but Ryan and his gang start threatening Jake's friends and family. Jake decides to learn martial arts to become stronger and fight back. He is introduced to a veteran fighter Jean Roqua, who agrees to mentor him and train him for the ultimate underground fight scene, where Ryan is the champion.
Jake trains hard with Roqua, and learns various martial arts techniques like Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and boxing. He also develops a relationship with Roqua's assistant, Baja Miller. As he gets stronger, Jake becomes confident and takes part in the no-holds-barred elimination fight with Ryan.
The fight is brutal, but Jake uses his skills to overcome Ryan and win the championship. However, Ryan's gang attacks Jake after the fight, and he is left injured. Roqua helps Jake recover, and they decide to leave the underground fight scene for good.
The film ends with Jake apologizing to his mother for his behavior, and starting a new life with Baja by his side.
