Neds is a British drama film directed by Peter Mullan. Set in 1970s Glasgow, the movie follows John McGill, a bright and ambitious schoolboy who lives in a poverty-stricken neighborhood. John comes from a dysfunctional family, with an abusive father and an alcoholic mother.

Despite his difficulties, John excels academically and is offered a scholarship to attend a prestigious Catholic high school. However, he soon feels like an outsider among the wealthy and privileged students, and becomes the target of bullying and violence.

Frustrated and disillusioned, John starts to rebel against authority and gravitates towards a group of delinquent peers who introduce him to drugs, violence, and crime. He quickly becomes entangled in a world of gang warfare and knife crime that threatens to consume him.

As he struggles to navigate his newfound identity as a NED, John realizes that his actions have consequences, and that the choices he makes will determine his future. He tries to reconcile his past and make amends for his mistakes, but must confront his own demons and the legacy of violence that surrounds him.
