Mysterious Island is a science fiction adventure film released in 2005, directed by Russell Mulcahy and starring Patrick Stewart, Kyle MacLachlan, and Danielle Calvert. The movie is based on the classic novel by Jules Verne, which tells the story of five men who find themselves stranded on a deserted island after escaping from a Confederate prison during the American Civil War.
The main character, Cyrus (played by Kyle MacLachlan), is a Union Army officer who decides to use a hot air balloon to escape from the South with his family. However, his plans are disrupted when a group of Confederate soldiers hijacks the balloon and forces the group to land on a strange and dangerous island in the Pacific Ocean.
As they explore the island, Cyrus and his companions encounter a wide variety of fantastic creatures, including giant bees, crabs, and birds, as well as a group of gold-hungry pirates led by the evil Gideon Spilitt (played by Gabriel Byrne).
Eventually, the group discovers that the island is home to the famous submarine captain, Nemo (played by Patrick Stewart), who has established a secret base on the island. Although Nemo initially refuses to help the group, he later becomes their ally in their fight against the pirates and the dangerous creatures on the island.
