My Way is a historical drama film directed by Kang Je-gyu and released in 2011. The film is loosely based on the true story of Korean athlete Kim Jun-shik and Japanese athlete Tatsuo Hasegawa, who both fought in World War II and were captured by the Soviet Union and Germany.

The film begins in 1928 when Jun-shik is a young boy working on Tatsuo's family farm in Korea. The two boys develop a rivalry as they both dream of becoming marathon runners and participating in the Tokyo Olympics. However, their dreams are dashed when Korea is colonized by Japan and their lives are changed forever.

As young men, Jun-shik and Tatsuo are forced to enlist in the Japanese army and fight in World War II. Tatsuo becomes a high-ranking officer and Jun-shik is his subordinate. When their unit is ambushed by the Soviets, Tatsuo comes up with a plan to save their lives but it fails and they are taken as prisoners of war.

The two friends are separated and forced to work in different labor camps. Jun-shik becomes a slave laborer and is brutally treated by the Nazis while Tatsuo is made to work on a military base. Jun-shik escapes from the camp but is later captured by the Germans and forced to fight for them while Tatsuo is sent to fight for the Japanese army in Burma.

The film's powerful climax takes place on the beaches of Normandy where the two friends reunite as enemies during the D-Day invasion. The film ends with a poignant message of reconciliation and forgiveness.

My Way was a critical and commercial success in South Korea and won several awards. It is a powerful and emotional film that explores the themes of friendship, loyalty, and perseverance during times of war.
