My Straight Son

Drama  Venezuela

Diego, played by actor Miguel Ángel Silvestre, is a successful and charismatic fashion photographer living in Mexico City. His sophisticated and glamorous lifestyle is turned upside down when a tragic accident lands his partner, Fabrizio, in a coma. Diego is devastated and struggling to cope with the changes in his life.

Adding to his stress, Diego suddenly learns that he is now the sole caregiver for his teenage son, Armando. Diego had previously kept his sexuality a secret from his son, who grew up with his mother in another city. Now, Diego must navigate their new relationship along with the sometimes judgmental, homophobic attitudes that he encounters in Mexican society.

Armando, played by actor Luis Alberti, is a reserved and introverted teenager who resists opening up to his father. He is used to a more conservative and traditional lifestyle, and his father's overt homosexuality is unsettling for him. As they begin to spend more time together, Armando starts to open up to his father and explore his own sexuality.

Throughout the film, Diego and Armando confront obstacles both internal and external as they try to build a relationship and move forward in their new reality. My Straight Son is a poignant story of family, love, and acceptance, and explores the complexities of identity, sexuality, and societal norms.
