Nick naturally becomes jealous at the thought of his wife having spent seven years alone with another man, even though Ellen insists that they were just friends.
The film is a classic example of screwball comedy, with plenty of witty one-liners and slapstick humor. The chemistry between Cary Grant and Irene Dunne is palpable, and they deliver some of the film's funniest moments. The subplot involving Randolph Scott's character adds an extra layer of tension and further complicates the already messy situation.
