My Fair Lady is a classic musical film from 1964, based on the stage musical of the same name, which was adapted from the play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. The film tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl who dreams of a better life. One day, she meets Professor Henry Higgins, a renowned speech therapist and phonetics expert who dislikes women and class divisions.

Higgins takes a bet with his colleague Colonel Pickering that he can transform Eliza into a lady who can pass off as a duchess in just six months. Eliza agrees to be his pupil, and Higgins sets about teaching her proper pronunciation, manners, and etiquette. The process is not easy, as Eliza struggles to adapt to the strict training regimen and the expectations of high society.

Over time, Eliza begins to transform both in her appearance and her behavior, though she also faces challenges as she tries to navigate the way society treats people of different classes. As she becomes more and more refined, Higgins begins to see her as a success of his experiment and less and less as a person.

The climax of the movie takes place at the Embassy Ball, where Eliza must put all of her training to the test in front of the cream of high society. By the end of the night, Eliza has won the bet, but she also realizes that her transformation has come at a great personal cost, and she must decide what kind of life she wants to lead going forward.

The film is famous for its witty dialogue (penned by Alan Jay Lerner) and its wonderful songs (composed by Frederick Loewe), including classics like "I Could Have Danced All Night," "The Rain in Spain," and "Wouldn't It Be Loverly." It starred Audrey Hepburn as Eliza, Rex Harrison as Higgins, and Stanley Holloway as Eliza's father, and was directed by George Cukor.
