Callie Fitzgerald, a successful marketing executive in Los Angeles, is facing pressure from her family to find a husband and settle down. With her 35th birthday approaching, her family is especially insistent that she find someone to bring to her party. To avoid the usual scrutiny, Callie hatches a plan to hire a pretend boyfriend for the occasion.
She turns to Theo, a charming and handsome actor, to play the part of her boyfriend. Though initially hesitant, Theo agrees to the job, and the two quickly begin working on their “pretend” relationship. As time goes on, however, Callie finds herself developing real feelings for Theo, and she begins to wonder if their relationship is as fake as she thought.
As the day of Callie’s party draws closer, tensions rise between her and Theo. They both struggle to balance their growing affection with the fact that their relationship was always intended to be temporary. When a last-minute emergency threatens to ruin the party, Callie and Theo must work together to save the day and figure out what they really want from each other.
In the end, Callie must decide if she is willing to risk her heart on Theo, or if she must face her family’s expectations and give up on love. The movie explores themes of family pressure, the fear of commitment, and the unexpected paths that love can take.
