Heather has always been an outsider in her small town, teased for her love of hockey and her muscular build. But when she meets Jonny, a newcomer to town who is a talented figure skater, she is immediately drawn to him. Despite their different interests and social circles, they connect over their mutual love of ice and soon begin a secret romance.
As they navigate their relationship, Heather struggles with her own inner demons. She has always felt like an animal trapped inside her own body, with a primal urge that she can't control. She fears that if she lets her guard down, she'll lash out and hurt those around her.
Meanwhile, Jonny is dealing with his own personal demons. He comes from a troubled background, with a family history of substance abuse and mental illness. He uses skating as an escape from his problems, but soon finds himself drawn into Heather's world of hockey and violence.
