Tangled Hearts in Spooner, Missouri.

Drama  United States of America

Mudhoney is a 1965 film directed by Russ Meyer and starring Hal Hopper (Calef), Antoinette Cristiani (Hannah), and John Furlong (Sidney). The film is set in Spooner, Missouri, during the Great Depression. Calef is a driftin' man, traveling from place to place looking for work. He arrives in Spooner and meets Lute (played by Sammy Gilbert), who offers him a job doing odd jobs around the farm.

While working on Lute's farm, Calef meets his niece, Hannah, and the two fall in love. However, Hannah is already married to Sidney, a violent and abusive man who hopes to inherit his uncle-in-law's fortune. Sidney and a local preacher (played by Stuart Lancaster) plot against Calef, hoping to drive him out of Spooner and take Hannah for themselves.

As Calef and Hannah's relationship grows stronger, Sidney becomes more and more jealous and violent. He tries to kill Calef and even sets fire to Lute's farm. Calef is forced to confront his past when a detective arrives in Spooner, searching for him. Eventually, the truth comes out, and Calef and Hannah are able to leave Spooner and start a new life together.

Mudhoney is known for its exaggerated characters, erotic content, and satirical take on small-town life during the Depression era. The film was a critical and commercial success and cemented Meyer's reputation as a master of exploitation cinema.
