Drama  N/A

Ms. Purple is a 2019 drama film directed by Justin Chon. The film tells the story of Kasie, a young Korean-American woman who works as a karaoke hostess in LA's Koreatown. She is paid for her companionship by drunken men, but her life changes when her father, who raised her and her brother Carey as a single parent, becomes terminally ill.

Kasie and Carey have been estranged for years, but they are forced to come together when their father's hospice nurse quits. The siblings must take turns caring for their father, which leads to a period of intense self-reflection. Kasie is struggling with her job, while Carey is dealing with his past mistakes.

As they spend time together, Kasie and Carey confront painful memories from their childhood and work through their differences. The film explores themes of family, identity, and the immigrant experience.

Starring Tiffany Chu as Kasie and Teddy Lee as Carey, Ms. Purple received critical acclaim for its emotional depth and intimate portrayal of family relationships. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2019 and was released theatrically later that year.
