In the movie "Mr. Wrong," Martha Alston (played by Ellen DeGeneres) is a successful television producer who longs for a stable relationship. She meets Whitman Crawford (played by Bill Pullman), whom she believes is the perfect man for her. Whitman is charming, successful, and seems to share her interests.
However, soon after they start dating, Martha realizes that Whitman has a bizarre personality disorder that causes him to transform into a possessive and deranged version of himself. Martha is unable to convince anyone of the true nature of Whitman's personality, including her best friend, Peter (played by John Livingston), and her mother, Mrs. Alston (played by Joan Plowright).
As Martha tries to escape from Whitman's grip, the situation becomes increasingly dangerous, culminating in a dramatic confrontation in which Martha fights for her life. In the end, Martha learns to embrace her own strength and independence, and she resolves to move on from the traumatic experience.
The film was directed by Nick Castle and released in 1996. Despite a talented cast and an interesting premise, the movie did not perform well at the box office and received mixed reviews from critics. However, it has since gained a cult following and is remembered as a darkly comedic exploration of toxic relationships.
