Mr. Vampire is a 1985 Hong Kong horror-comedy film directed by Ricky Lau and produced by Sammo Hung. The film stars Lam Ching-ying as Master Kau, a Taoist Priest who specializes in exorcising ghosts and dealing with the supernatural. Kau often teams up with his two bumbling disciples, Chou (Ricky Hui) and Man Choi (Chin Siu-ho), who always manage to get themselves into trouble.

The story begins when a wealthy businessman hires Kau to perform a ritual to move the body of his deceased father to a new burial plot. However, during the process of transporting the coffin, Chou and Man Choi accidentally break it open, revealing the corpse of the elder, who has been dead for over 20 years. Suddenly, the corpse springs to life as a hopping vampire (jiangshi), due to its extreme age and being buried at the wrong time.

Kau and his disciples team up with a young widow, Moon (Moon Lee), who has also been dealing with supernatural occurrences. Together, they attempt to stop the vampire from terrorizing the village, using their knowledge of Taoist magic, spells, and martial arts. They encounter various challenges along the way, including a group of rogue priests who use Taoist magic for their own gain.

The film is known for its unique blend of humor and horror, as well as its innovative use of hopping vampire mythology in a contemporary setting. It was a commercial success in Hong Kong and spawned a series of sequels and imitations in the years that followed. Today, it is considered a cult classic of Hong Kong cinema and beloved by horror-comedy fans worldwide.
