The movie Mr. 3000 stars Bernie Mac as Stan Ross, a former baseball player who retired after reaching the career milestone of 3,000 hits. He was known as Mr. 3000 and basked in the glory of his achievement for many years. However, it is discovered that there was a scoring error and he's actually three hits short of the milestone.
Desperate to reclaim his title, Stan returns to the game at the age of 47 to try and reach those remaining hits. He joins a team as a marketing ploy, but they soon realize he's not the talented player he once was. He struggles with his ego and the fact that he's out of shape and needs to work hard to keep up with the younger players.
As he tries to make his way back to the top, he learns the importance of teamwork and mentors his younger teammates, teaching them valuable lessons he's learned throughout his career. With the help of his new team, he finally reaches the 3,000 hit milestone, but realizes that the journey was more important than the destination.
