Moscow on the Hudson is a 1984 comedy-drama film directed by Paul Mazursky. The film stars Robin Williams as Vladimir Ivanoff, a saxophone player in a Russian circus who defects to the United States while the circus is on tour in New York City.
Although Vladimir originally plans to defect with his friend, Anatoly, he loses his nerve at the last minute and instead decides to seek asylum in a department store. After being befriended by a group of employees, including the security guard, Lionel, and the perfume saleswoman, Lucia, Vladimir starts to adjust to life in America.
