More the Merrier

The movie More the Merrier is a romantic comedy film directed by George Stevens and released in 1943. The movie is set in Washington D.C. during World War II, where a single woman named Connie Milligan (played by Jean Arthur) has a hard time finding a place to stay. She meets an older man named Benjamin Dingle (played by Charles Coburn) who offers her a room in his overcrowded apartment.

Soon after, Dingle rents out part of his room to Joe Carter (played by Joel McCrea), a handsome and charming young man who Connie is attracted to. Although initially reluctant about sharing the space with a stranger, Connie gradually becomes close to Joe, and the two start spending time together.

As the story progresses, Connie finds herself falling for Joe, but she is confused about her feelings and is unsure about how Joe feels about her. Their relationship is further complicated by the fact that Joe is engaged to a woman named Estelle Novick (played by Ruth Donnelly), who wants to marry him as soon as possible.

To add to the chaos, Dingle is secretly in love with Connie, and he tries to sabotage her relationship with Joe by creating misunderstandings between them. However, as the story reaches its climax, Connie and Joe finally confess their love for each other and decide to be together.

The movie More the Merrier portrays the complex nature of the relationships between couples and the difficulty of separating sex from love.
