Moonstruck is a romantic comedy film released in 1987 and directed by Norman Jewison. It stars Cher as Loretta Castorini, Nicolas Cage as Ronny Cammareri, Danny Aiello as Johnny Cammareri, Vincent Gardenia as Cosmo Castorini, and Olympia Dukakis as Rose Castorini.

The story revolves around Loretta Castorini, a 37-year-old Italian-American widow who lives with her parents in Brooklyn. She agrees to marry Johnny Cammareri, a man she doesn't love but accepts because she thinks it's her last chance for happiness.

However, Johnny has to spend time with his dying mother in Sicily and asks Loretta to invite his estranged younger brother, Ronny, to the wedding. Ronny is a baker who lost his hand in an accident that he blames Johnny for, and he's bitter about it. When Loretta meets Ronny, they have an instant attraction, and he starts to pursue her.

Simultaneously, Loretta's father, Cosmo, is having an affair with a younger woman, Mona. Loretta's mother, Rose, suspects something and hires a private investigator to follow Cosmo. The investigator confirms Rose's suspicion, and Rose confronts Cosmo, but they eventually reconcile.

As the wedding day approaches, Loretta and Ronny's attraction grows stronger, and they end up spending the night together. The next morning, Ronny proposes to Loretta, but she turns him down, feeling guilty about betraying Johnny.

At the wedding, Loretta tells Johnny that she can't marry him. Johnny is understanding, and he leaves the wedding, giving Loretta his blessing to pursue her feelings for Ronny.

In the end, Loretta reconciles with her mother and starts a new relationship with Ronny, while her father, Cosmo, tries to make amends for his affair. Moonstruck won three Academy Awards, including Best Actress in a Leading Role for Cher, Best Supporting Actress for Olympia Dukakis, and Best Original Screenplay.
