Moonfall is an upcoming science fiction disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich and written by Emmerich, Harald Kloser, and Spenser Cohen. The film is produced by Emmerich's Centropolis Entertainment and will feature an ensemble cast including Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michael Peña, and Charlie Plummer.
The story follows a group of astronauts and scientists who are tasked with preventing the moon from crashing into Earth after a mysterious force knocks it out of orbit. As they race against time to save humanity, they discover a sinister conspiracy that may have played a role in the crisis.
The film's production has been postponed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was initially scheduled to be released in February 2022 but has since been pushed back to July 22, 2022.
Moonfall is expected to feature groundbreaking visual effects and intense action sequences, similar to Emmerich's previous disaster films such as Independence Day and 2012.
