Monuments is a heartwarming road trip comedy that follows the journey of a young widower named Ted, played brilliantly by David Sullivan. After losing his wife Laura, Ted is struggling to cope with the pain and emptiness he feels inside. He can't seem to move on and is haunted by memories of his past with Laura.
In an impulsive decision, Ted steals his wife's ashes and embarks on a cross-country journey through America's heartland. Along the way, he meets a cast of eccentric characters, each with their own quirks and idiosyncrasies. They include his rival Howl, played by Javier Muñoz, who leads Ted down a wild goose chase, causing him to question the purpose of his journey.
Despite the setbacks and hurdles faced during his journey, Ted gradually begins to find himself opening up to the world around him and discovering a newfound sense of purpose and hope.
