Money for Nothing is a 1993 crime-comedy movie directed by Ramón Menéndez. The movie stars John Cusack as Joey Coyle, who is a struggling dockworker who is struggling to make ends meet. One day, he discovers $1.2 million in cash that fell off of an armored car that had been involved in a car accident. Without hesitation, he decides to take the money and run away from his troubles.
Joey seeks out his ex-girlfriend Monica (Debi Mazar), who works in an investment firm, for advice on what to do with the money. She tells him to keep the money hidden until they can figure out a way to launder the cash. Joey then turns to the local mob boss, Tommy (Michael Madsen), for help in laundering the money.
Meanwhile, a detective named Mike (Michael Rapaport) is assigned to investigate and recover the stolen cash. As Joey makes plans to leave the country with the money, Mike grows closer to catching him.
As Joey's excitement over the money wears off and the pressure of being on the run starts to mount, he begins to realize that what he's done is wrong and that he needs to return the money. However, the mob and the detective are both closing in, and Joey must find a way to return the money without getting caught.
Money for Nothing is a thrilling ride with enough twists and turns to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The film is based on a true story and is a cautionary tale about the consequences of greed and the dangers of getting involved with organized crime.
