Mission to Mars is a science fiction film released in 2000. The movie begins with the first manned mission to Mars, led by Commander Luke Graham (Don Cheadle), Dr. Jim McConnell (Gary Sinise), and two other astronauts. While investigating a strange formation, they are suddenly engulfed by a massive dust storm. The team loses communication with Earth and is presumed dead.

Back on Earth, NASA officials determine that the crew may have survived the storm and send a rescue mission led by Commander Woody Blake (Tim Robbins), who is also Graham's best friend. Blake and his team, including McConnell's wife (Connie Nielsen), begin their journey to Mars.

As they approach Mars, they encounter various challenges, such as malfunctioning equipment and limited resources. When they finally reach the planet, they discover Graham alive but alone. He tells them that the other two crew members, including his wife, died during the storm. They also realize that the strange formation the previous crew was investigating may hold the key to understanding Martian life.

While exploring the site, they find evidence of an advanced civilization that died out millions of years ago. They also discover a recording left by the civilization, which reveals that they had witnessed the destruction of their planet due to an impending disaster and had sent out a warning to other worlds.

The rescue team manages to repair their damaged spacecraft and begins their journey back to Earth. However, their return trip is not without peril, and they face new obstacles that threaten their survival.

In the end, the team succeeds in bringing Graham and the discovery of the Martian civilization back to Earth. The movie concludes with a sense of wonder and the possibility of further exploration and understanding of the mysteries of space.
