Sir Lionel Frost, a self-proclaimed myth and monster investigator, receives a letter from someone claiming to have evidence of the existence of the legendary missing link. Sir Lionel sees this as his chance to prove himself to his fellow adventurers and gain acceptance into their circle. He embarks on a journey to the Pacific Northwest to find the creature and is surprised to discover that the missing link is a friendly and intelligent creature named Mr. Link.
Mr. Link, who is the last of his kind, wants Sir Lionel to take him to the Himalayas to be with his distant relatives, the Yetis. Sir Lionel sees this as an opportunity to prove to the world that he has discovered a new species and embarks on a journey with Mr. Link and their guide, Adelina Fortnight. However, they are pursued by Willard Stenk, a ruthless hunter who wants to capture Mr. Link and prove his worth to a secret society of monster hunters.
The journey takes them through treacherous terrain, where they encounter numerous obstacles and adversaries. Along the way, Sir Lionel and Mr. Link form a bond, and Sir Lionel realizes that the missing link is not just a discovery, but a friend. Adelina also learns to overcome her past and finds a new purpose in life.
In the end, they reach the Himalayas and find the Yetis, who allow Mr. Link to live with them. Sir Lionel finally gains acceptance from his peers and realizes that he had found something much more valuable than just another discovery.
