Harry works as a trombone player in a jazz band and leads a mundane life until he meets Julie, a beautiful and quirky woman, who is a dreamer like himself. The two hit it off instantly and plan to meet at a diner in the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles for their first date.
However, before Harry can make it to the diner, he receives a panicked phone call from a payphone in the middle of the night. The caller, an army officer, warns Harry that a nuclear attack on Los Angeles is imminent and that he needs to get out of the city before it's too late.
As the clock ticks and panic rises, Harry embarks on a frantic quest across L.A.'s darkened streets, trying to find Julie and escape the city before the missiles hit. However, his efforts are hindered by a series of bizarre encounters with a cast of strange and desperate characters, all trying to survive the impending apocalypse in their own ways.
With every passing moment, the tension mounts and the stakes get higher, as the countdown to destruction creeps closer and closer. Harry's only hope is to get to Julie, and together, they must face the ultimate test of love and loyalty in a world gone mad.
