Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01 is a Japanese animated film released in 1987. It was directed by Shinji Aramaki and produced by AIC and ARTMIC studios.
The story is set in a futuristic world where powerful personal battle tanks called "Mad Machines," or "MADOX," have been developed by the military for combat. The film follows the events that take place when an experimental MADOX prototype is lost in Tokyo and falls into the hands of a young engineering student named Sujimoto Kouji.
Kouji, who is on his way to a date with his girlfriend, unwittingly activates the MADOX and finds himself trapped inside the heavily armed vehicle. Meanwhile, the tank's designer, Kusomoto Elle, and her team race against time to recover the prototype before it falls into the wrong hands. They dispatch a group of soldiers led by Lieutenant Kilgore to retrieve the MADOX.
Kilgore, a macho tank driver, has a score to settle with Kusomoto after being humiliated by her in a test pilot demonstration. He sees the lost MADOX as an opportunity to exact revenge on her and takes his team on a wild goose chase through the city to find the machine.
Kouji, on the other hand, is struggling to come to terms with the overwhelming power of the MADOX and the danger he faces as Kilgore and his team close in on him. He also faces the challenge of trying to control the machine and avoid causing widespread destruction in the city.
The film is an action-packed adventure that combines elements of science fiction, military warfare, and slapstick comedy.
