Men in Hope is a Czech romantic comedy film directed by Jiří Vejdělek. The movie follows the story of Rudolf, a successful gynecologist and a charming womanizer who is in his mid-forties. He is married to his beautiful wife Tereza but is not faithful to her. Rudolf believes that cheating on your partner is essential for a happy marriage as it keeps the relationship vibrant.
One day, Rudolf’s son Michal announces that he is going to get married, and his girlfriend is pregnant. Rudolf is happy for his son but soon realizes that he might have fathered his son’s unborn baby. Things get complicated when Rudolf’s mistress, an attractive journalist named Klára, also gets pregnant. Rudolf is stuck in a dilemma and decides to keep it a secret from his wife and lover.
The film showcases the lives of three generations of men and their relationships with women. It sheds light on the way men and women see relationships differently and how men deal with their insecurities and fear of commitment. The movie is a blend of humor, drama, and romance, making it an entertaining watch. It received critical acclaim both in Czech and international film festivals and was one of the most successful Czech movies of all-time.
