In "Magnetic Rose," the salvage ship crew is composed of Heintz and Miguel, a pair of engineer-repairmen. They are called in to retrieve what they believe is a wayward satellite, but instead they discover a great, eerie facility named the "Magnetic Rose" floating among the debris. Entering it, they encounter the sensual and artificial world created by its designer, but things soon take a disturbing turn.
In "Stink Bomb," a meek lab technician named Nobuo Tanaka is tasked with delivering medication to a research facility that has been afflicted with a cold. However, when he accidentally ingests one of the tablets, he becomes a biological weapon, causing everyone around him to succumb to his uncontrollable odor and toxicity. The military is called in to contain the disaster, but they quickly lose control of the situation.
In "Cannon Fodder," a city has been embroiled in a war that has lasted so long that it is now unclear who the enemy is or what the original motivation was. The residents of the city go about their daily lives, ignoring the destruction and death that surround them, as they continue their futile battle.
All three of these stories explore the impact of technology and war on humanity and the consequences of their use.
