Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus is a 2009 science fiction disaster movie directed by Jack Perez. The film centers around the discovery and subsequent battle between two gigantic sea monsters - a mega shark and a giant octopus - that have been released from their icy prison due to global warming.
The story begins with a massive chunk of ice breaking off from an Arctic glacier, releasing the two ancient creatures from their hibernation. The creatures then make their way to the California coast, where they wreak havoc on the local marine life, including whales and submarines.
The US government, under the leadership of Admiral Jack Stanton (played by Lorenzo Lamas), sees two options to stop the sea monsters: they can wait for the creatures to naturally die, or they can try to kill them. However, a team of marine biologists - led by Dr. Emma MacNeil (Deborah Gibson) - believes that the creatures should be captured and studied instead of being killed.
As the battle between the two giant sea creatures intensifies, Dr. MacNeil and her team discover a way to lure the creatures away from populated areas and into a battle. The fight between the Mega Shark and the Giant Octopus goes on for several rounds, with both creatures causing massive destruction on land and sea.
In the end, the two monsters appear to have destroyed each other, but a post-credits scene hints that at least one of them may have survived.
