In Mega Piranha, a group of scientists create a genetically modified strain of piranha in order to boost the size and speed of the fish for commercial use. However, during a transportation mishap, the piranhas are accidentally released into the river system of the Amazon Rainforest, where they quickly begin to breed and grow to enormous sizes.
As the piranhas continue to devour everything in their path, including the local wildlife and even rival predators such as crocodiles and anacondas, a team of government agents led by Special Agent Fitch (played by Paul Logan) and marine biologist Dr. Sarah Monroe (played by Tiffany) work together to stop the threat.
As the team races against time to find a way to kill the mega piranhas before they reach the densely populated cities downstream, they must also contend with a corrupt military general who wants to use the piranhas as weapons of war. In the end, a solution is found, but not before the mega piranhas wreak havoc on the people and ecosystem of the Amazon.
