Throughout the film, Greg faces numerous mishaps and misunderstandings as he tries to impress Jack and earn his approval. From accidentally destroying a prized wedding altar, to inadvertently giving Jack's mother a drug that causes her to fall asleep and nearly die, Greg constantly finds himself in precarious situations.
Adding to the chaos are Jack's suspicions about Greg's past and his intentions with Pam, leading to tense and awkward interactions between the two men. Greg also has to contend with Pam's ex-fiancé, a successful and charming doctor who still holds a torch for her.
As the wedding approaches, Greg's relationship with Jack reaches a breaking point, with Jack ultimately revealing that he had been testing Greg the entire time to see if he is truly worthy of being part of the Byrnes family. In a climactic and emotional confrontation, Greg must prove his love and commitment to Pam in order to win over Jack and secure his blessing for their marriage.
In the end, despite all the obstacles and setbacks, Greg and Pam are able to overcome the challenges and frustrations of their tumultuous courtship, emerging stronger and more united as they come to understand the true meaning of family and acceptance.
