Janet, the protagonist of the movie, works at a call center and lives with her overbearing mother in a small town in Northern England. She is single and in her thirties, longing for a romantic relationship but unable to find the right person. When she wins a free trip to a caravan park in Rhyl, Wales, she sees it as an opportunity to break out of her routine and perhaps find love.
Janet's best friend Diana, a wild and adventurous woman who is single herself, advises her to reinvent herself as a more exciting and daring person in order to attract men. Janet reluctantly agrees and adopts a new persona, calling herself "Jazz", wearing provocative clothes and makeup, and behaving in a more flirtatious and outgoing manner.
At the caravan park, Janet/Jazz meets a variety of men, including the handsome but arrogant Kris and the shy but sweet Daniel. Her antics attract attention, but also cause confusion and conflict, particularly when the real Janet emerges from beneath the Jazz persona. She realizes that she has been putting on a false front, and that she needs to be true to herself if she wants to find real love.
Despite the setbacks and misunderstandings, Janet ultimately makes some valuable discoveries about herself and her potential for happiness. The movie is a touching and humorous exploration of the pitfalls and possibilities of love and self-discovery.
