McCabe & Mrs. Miller is a 1971 Western movie directed by Robert Altman and starring Warren Beatty and Julie Christie. The film is set in the early 1900s in a remote mining town called Presbyterian Church, located in the Pacific Northwest.

John McCabe, a gambler and small-time entrepreneur, arrives in the town with plans to establish a brothel. He encounters Constance Miller, a savvy and experienced prostitute, who agrees to become his partner in the business venture. Together, they create a successful operation that soon becomes the most popular establishment in town.

However, their situation changes when a large corporation arrives, looking to buy up all the land in the region. The company's representative, a businessman named Hollander, offers to buy out McCabe and Mrs. Miller's establishment, but McCabe refuses. The corporation then hires a group of hitmen to eliminate McCabe and take over the town.

As the tension between the two groups escalates, McCabe becomes increasingly outmatched and struggles to keep himself and Mrs. Miller alive. In the end, he sacrifices himself to try and save his business and protect Mrs. Miller.

The film is notable for its realistic portrayal of Old West frontier life, featuring rusted, muddy streets, dirty taverns, and rough characters. The movie's soundtrack, created by Leonard Cohen, is also regarded as one of the greatest film scores of all time. McCabe & Mrs. Miller received critical acclaim upon its release and is now considered a classic of Western cinema.
