Disease's Homecoming: Unleashing the Forgotten Monster

Horror  United States of America

Matriarch is a horror film directed by Scott Vickers and released in 2018. The story follows Rachel (Charlie Blackwood), a woman who is afflicted with a mysterious disease after surviving an overdose. In an attempt to confront her personal demons and reconnect with her estranged husband, Matt (Joe Hargreaves), Rachel returns to her childhood home in the Scottish countryside.

However, Rachel's plans are derailed when she and Matt are involved in a car accident on their way to the house. Stranded and injured, they are taken in by a seemingly hospitable family, who offer to care for them until they recover.

But as Rachel's condition worsens and she begins to experience horrifying visions and encounters, she realizes that the family is far from benevolent. In fact, they are a cult led by the ruthless matriarch, The Mother (Julie Hannan), who is determined to use Rachel's illness for her own sinister purposes.

As Rachel fights to survive and escape the clutches of The Mother and her followers, she learns the dark secrets of her own family and the terrifying reality of the cult's ultimate goal. Matriarch is a tense and chilling thriller that explores the themes of family, trauma, and the blurred lines between good and evil.
