The family is led by David (played by Gary Oldman) and his wife Sarah (played by Emily Mortimer). They see the purchase of the ship Mary as the perfect opportunity to start a new business and move on from their financial struggles. However, as they set sail with their two children, they soon realize that the ship carries a gruesome past.
The crew they hire to help them with the charter includes a captain named Mike (played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) and a deckhand named Tommy (played by Stefanie Scott). Mike tries to warn them about strange occurrences on the ship, but David brushes it off as superstition.
As they venture further into the open waters, the family starts experiencing inexplicable phenomena, and Sarah begins to have terrifying visions. The ship seems to be haunted by the ghosts of its past. David soon realizes that they may have made a grave mistake in buying the ship and that their lives are at risk.
As tension rises and terror takes over, the family must fight to survive and uncover the Mary's dark secrets before it's too late. The movie builds on the suspense and horror, taking it to a shocking climax that leaves the family and audience alike in shock.
