The five amateur runners are a diverse group of characters, each with their own reasons for taking on the challenge of the Devil's Canyon Marathon. There's Mark, a middle-aged man looking to change his sedentary lifestyle, Sarah, a young woman running to raise money for cancer research, Carlos, a former gang member trying to turn his life around, Gloria, a retiree looking for a new adventure, and Jake, a college student seeking to impress his father.
