In the film Mara, Kate Fuller is a criminal psychologist who has recently separated from her husband and is struggling to balance her demanding job with the stress of her personal life. She is called to investigate a grisly murder in which a man has been killed while sleeping and his wife is the prime suspect.

As Kate delves deeper into the case, she uncovers a pattern of similar deaths that have occurred around the world, all connected to an ancient legend about a demon that haunts people in their dreams. With the help of her colleague, Dr. Aruna Sharma, Kate learns that the demon, Mara, feeds on fear and has the ability to invade people's dreams and kill them in their sleep.

As Kate investigates further, she begins experiencing terrifying dreams and hallucinations, and starts to believe that she is being targeted by Mara. Meanwhile, Sophie, the only witness to the murder, is also experiencing nightmares that seem to be connected to the demon.

As Kate races against time to catch the killer and save herself and Sophie, she must confront her own fears and demons, and face the possibility that the legend of Mara may be all too real.

The movie Mara is directed by Clive Tonge and stars Olga Kurylenko as Kate Fuller, Craig Conway as Dougie, Javier Botet as Mara, and Rosie Fellner as Helena. It was released in 2018 and is classified as a horror/thriller.
